# Next Thing > A letter, email or set of instructions you have to act on, shaped for an ADHD reader the i-have-adhd way: read free > in the browser (dates as calendar days, deadlines, asks with minutes, what to have ready, contacts, a checklist and a > calendar file); a metered run writes the action card - the next action first, numbered timed steps - and restates it > after you tick steps off. Built on the SkillSafe skill @ayghri/i-have-adhd (ayghri/i-have-adhd, MIT). https://next-thing.skillsafe.ai/ ## The input Any text with asks in it: a council or benefits letter, a school email, a landlord notice, an onboarding checklist, a form's instructions. Plus today's date (relative dates are counted from it, or from the letter's own date when the text says "of the date of this letter") and, optionally, the minutes you have now. ## What is free - Dates: ISO, numeric (a date that reads two ways is flagged), "14 November", "November 14", weekdays ("by Friday", "next Friday"), "within 21 days", "within 10 working days", "today", "tomorrow", "end of the month"; opening hours ("Monday to Friday") are not dates; a weekday that disagrees with its date is flagged; each date marked deadline, appointment or date with the days left. - Asks: imperatives, "you must / need to / please ...", passive asks ("slips need to be signed and returned"), "forms are due"; conditional asks ("If anyone has moved ... please tell us") marked as only-if; a time estimate per ask; what to bring, attach or include. - Amounts, phone numbers, emails, links and reference numbers as copyable chips; a two-week strip; a tickable checklist; findings: a deadline passed, one within three days, a date that reads two ways, a weekday mismatch, a relative deadline, a vague "as soon as possible", a wall of text, long sentences, a buried first ask, more than five asks, asked to call with no number. - Exports: an iCalendar file with a reminder the day before each deadline, Markdown, findings CSV. ## The metered lanes Two tasks on gpt-terra, metered per run, routed by `task`. Input string fields: `task` (plan or update), `text`, `today`, `minutes`, `progress` (for update: a JSON string of the plan's steps with done flags, and a note of what happened) and `facts` (the page's reading). - `plan` replies with `summary`, `next_action` (text and minutes), `steps` (action, minutes, by, source, needs), `deadlines`, `bring`, `later`, `question`, `last_line`, `findings`, `prescan` and `caveats`. - `update` adds `state` ("Step N of M done: ... Next: ...") and `wins`, and gives every step a `status` (done, todo, changed, new). - The page requires a next action of five minutes or less, at most seven steps each with minutes and a quote from the text, every date one the page found, every amount and number copied from the text, every deadline carried, every ask a step or parked under later, no preamble, closers, hedges, idioms or vague estimates, and for an update a state line that matches the steps, ticked steps kept done and the win shown. ## Links - API tutorial: https://next-thing.skillsafe.ai/api.html - Source skill: https://skillsafe.ai/skill/@ayghri/i-have-adhd
